An easy walk from your Chateau Marlborough hotel accommodation, Blenheim township is full of small boutiques and galleries to delight treasure-seekers of all ages.
The focal point of Blenheim town is the attractive Seymour Square, the base for the Garden Marlborough festival each November, with its well-tended flowerbeds, memorial clock tower and fountain. An historic bandstand and amphitheatre, adjacent to Seymour Square, are regularly used for a wide range of performing arts.
Of historic interest are both Riverlands Cob Cottage, furnished in pioneer style, and the Brayshaw Museum Park with its reconstructed colonial village. A miniature railway runs alongside the river, transporting passengers from Blenheim town to Brayshaw Park museum and settler town.
Blenheim has a reputation for lovely gardens, including Waterlea Gardens and Pollard Park botanical gardens, featuring winding walkways through its gardens and rivers along with children’s playgrounds and barbeque areas for those summer picnics.
Activities in the Blenheim countryside include whitewater rafting, tramping, boating, kayaking, horse trekking, mountain biking, trout fishing and skiing. More sedate pursuits include strolling through the lovely parks and gardens of Blenheim, or enjoying a visit to an art studio, olive grove, cheese factory or boutique distillery.
